Principal Message

Dear Meadowlark Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome our returning Flyers and introduce many new students, families, and staff members to the Meadowlark community. Our team has been working hard to prepare for a positive and successful year filled with learning, growth, relationships, and new opportunities.

At Meadowlark, everything we do is grounded in our SOAR expectations:

Safety — We make choices that protect ourselves and others.

Ownership — We take responsibility for our actions, learning, and school community.

Acceptance — We include others and value different ideas, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Respect — We treat others, ourselves, and our school with kindness and dignity.

SOAR is more than a set of school rules—it is how we build a welcoming environment where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. We encourage families to talk with their children about what Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect can look like at school, at home, and throughout the community.

Open House — Friday, August 21

This year’s Open House will look a little different from previous years. Class rosters will be available approximately 24–48 hours before Open House. Once your child’s teacher is known, please attend during the scheduled time below. Families may drop in anytime during their assigned hour to meet teachers, visit classrooms, connect with staff and classmates, and prepare for an amazing year.

3:30–4:30 p.m. – House, Olsen, Speight, Garcia, Birge, Sherman, Finch, Storebo, Fornstrom, and Mayle

4:30–5:30 p.m. – Shatzer, Medina, Hernandez, Simpson, Ellis, Feldmann, Christenson, Grott, and Kinstler

Our Meadowlark Parent’s Survival Guide is also available as a helpful reference. It includes information about daily schedules, grading, lunch and recess, interventions and enrichments, transportation, communication, SOAR expectations, parent involvement, school activities, and frequently asked questions.

The first day of school is Monday, August 24, 2026. We know the beginning of a new school year can bring both excitement and nervousness, especially for students entering a new building or meeting new teachers. Our staff will spend time helping students learn routines, build relationships, understand expectations, and feel that they belong at Meadowlark.

We are incredibly excited about the new faces joining our school and the energy they will bring. Together, our returning and new Flyers will make Meadowlark an even stronger community.

Please note that the Meadowlark school office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning Monday, August 3. Families are welcome to call or stop by during those hours with questions or for assistance.  Thank you for trusting us with your children. We look forward to seeing everyone at Open House and beginning another wonderful year together.

Let’s SOAR—Fly Safe, Take Ownership, Accept All, and Be Respectful!

Sincerely,

Principal Brinkman
